Do you know what personal information has Apple collected about you? To clarify this, Apple has launched a new privacy website that gives you access to all your data. You can download a copy of your data, request a correction of your data and deactivate or delete your Apple ID account.

Apple thus complies with the new European Data Protection Act General Data Protection Act (AVG) that is in force the day after tomorrow. That is why the page is only for European Apple users. Other countries will follow later.
Apple data download via a new page

On this new privacy page from Apple, you can now manage all your data after you have logged in with your Apple ID. That starts with the possibility to receive a copy of all your data. You can select the parts from which you want to receive a copy. You can state the maximum number of files that can be sent: somewhere between 1 and 25 GB. Apple cuts them up into pieces and it is useful if your internet connection is not too good.
After that, the download is not ready immediately. Apple needs up to seven days to process your request. During this period they do not collect only the information but also check whether the request actually comes from you. Then you will receive the download in your mailbox. Apple thus complies with the right to data portability, also known as 'data portability'. If you want, you can take your data to a party other than Apple.
What kind of data can you download?
The download includes the following items - you can specify what you want and do not want to receive:
- Activity in App Store, iTunes Store, iBooks Store and Apple Music
- Data of Apple ID account and device
- Activity in Apple Online and Retail Stores
- AppleCare Support history, repair requests and more Game Center activity
- iCloud bookmarks and reading list
- iCloud Calendars and Reminders
- iCloud Contacts
- iCloud Notes
- Report a problem with Maps
- Marketing subscriptions, downloads and other activities
- Other data
Additionally, you can also choose a copy of your iCloud Drive files and documents, iCloud Mail and iCloud Photos. Apple warns that those items are large and that downloading can take a long time.
Adjust, deactivate or delete the account
Are you not happy with the data you find in the download? Then you can take various measures through the same page. First of all, you can correct your data: if certain personal details are incorrect, you can ask Apple to update them. This includes your Apple ID account information and Apple Store transactions and information.
If you do not want to agree with what the data Apple stores have about you, then you can delete your account - which is perhaps a bit rigorous. Your Apple ID and all associated data are permanently deleted, retrieving is not an option. It takes 30 days for your data to be completely gone.
It is also possible to deactivate your account temporarily. Apple will no longer get your data, but they will still be there. With deactivation, you will receive an alphanumeric access code with which you can activate the account at any time.
So, this is the data that Apple has about you and the process of downloading all your data. I hope this article will help you to deal with your Apple account perfectly.
