The leak self-inflicted by Apple has happened again. This time, by mistake the Cupertino company has leaked the details about the next version of macOS 10.14. macOS 10.14 probably gets a dark mode, an Apple News app and a new look for the Mac App Store. This is evident from images that have leaked prematurely.
Developer Steve Troughton Smith discovered the new details of macOS 10.14 and tweeted about it. Clearly, the new appearance with a dark theme can be seen, which is likely to be switched off. The dark theme seems to affect all apps. There is also an icon of the Apple News app for the Mac visible in the dock. Troughton Smith often finds new functions in software.

1. Dark mode for macOS
A renewal that will be received with enthusiasm is the dark mode on the Mac, which seems to affect all apps. It is already possible to switch on a dark mode on the Mac. The menu bar becomes transparent and the dock becomes dark so that both are easier to read. But the apps themselves remain just white. This seems to change in macOS 10.14.

The buttons on the taskbar are dark grey with white characters, which is reminiscent of the photo editing mode in the Photos app. In Xcode, you can easily switch between a light and dark appearance and that will probably also be the case with other macOS apps.
2. Renewed Mac App Store with stories
The new details were leaked by Apple itself, thanks to a video link in the Mac App Store API. It is therefore Apple's own material. This also shows that the Mac App Store will now receive video previews, so that you can see what an app looks like in use. Probably the Mac App Store also gets a new interface with stories about apps, lists and a daily app and game of the day. In iOS 11, Apple introduced such a redesign for the App Store on the iPhone and iPad.
In the background, you can see a new macOS wallpaper with mountains or sand dunes. This could indicate macOS Mojave, the name that was previously tipped for macOS 10.14. The image on the photo was taken during the twilight. Apple could deliver two wallpapers because of the new dark theme: during the day and at night. Maybe they change automatically according to the time of day.
3. Apple News app for the Mac
In the dock, you can see a new app, with the icon of the News app. This can be recognized by the N logo. With Apple News, you can read news stories from all kinds of sources. Apple would also plan to offer paid content. However, it only works in a limited number of countries.
We expect Apple to reveal the official name of macOS 10.14 on Monday evening at 10:30 pm at WWDC 2018 event, along with the new features. Also iOS 12, tvOS 12 and watchOS 5 are probably on the program. Of course, Applesteer reports the entire evening (and the days after)!
