From iOS 12, the Photos app on your iPhone and iPad has become a lot smarter again. Take a look at all the new features that make the app a lot easier for you. In this article, we will discuss the 3 ways that iOS 12 makes the Photos app ever smarter.

How iOS 12 makes photos especially smarter
Google Photos is the biggest competitor of the Photos app that is installed on every iPhone and iPad as standard. Apple has therefore not been idle this year and with iOS 12 introduces a number of fine improvements this fall. We will discuss them with you below.
1. For You
The completely new feature is the For Your tab in the Photos app. On this page, the app collects all your memories, shared albums and partial suggestions. This bundles Apple's two separate Check-in and Shared tabs, which makes the app a little clearer.

The retrospectives have been given a new place, but they still work just like in iOS 11. Based on your location, time and the people in the photos, snapshots are grouped, so that you get an overview of the past two months or an overview of all photos you have taken of a person.
2. Part suggestions
The second new way is Part suggestions. Based on facial recognition and location, Apple bundles groups with photos, and links them directly to the people you have photographed. That way you can share an album with all the people who were present at the touch of a button.
Do the people you send the pictures to also have an iPhone? Then received at the same time as the photos a suggestion to share photos back. The Photos app collects all photos that were taken on the same day and location independently. This should make it easier, for example, to quickly exchange all your holiday photos with your travel companions.

3. The strongly improved search function
If you have been running an iPhone for a couple of years, chances are that your Film Roll is filled with hundreds or thousands of photos. Fortunately, iOS 12 makes it easier to search this quickly and effectively. For example, the performance of the search function has been improved, to begin with. This ensures that you get to see the right collection of results faster, something that could sometimes take a while with iOS 11.
Finally, it becomes possible to search for multiple search terms simultaneously. For example, type someone's name and link it to "beach" to see all the beach photos that that person is on your screen. Because it is still a beta version of iOS 12, not all searches work equally well.
iOS 12 will be available to everyone this fall, the update can already be tested for developers and will soon be available as a public beta. If you want to try the beta version you can download and install the iOS 12 beta here.
