iOS 12 brings options to generate difficult, strong passwords to use them for your accounts, and then store them. But there is also a handy function to share a password directly via AirDrop.

Share passwords via AirDrop in iOS 12

Although we obviously do not recommend to share your passwords just like that, sometimes there are situations where you want to give a login to a partner, family member or close friend. Instead of mentioning a difficult password that you can generate with a password manager or in iOS 12 itself, you can also send it via AirDrop. This feature is standard on every Apple device.

How do sharing passwords via AirDrop works?

It works like this: if you go to 'Website & App Passwords' in the Settings app, select a login and then tap the password, an option appears to immediately share it with AirDrop. This can be done with any device running on the new iOS 12 or MacOS Mojave, although both users must identify themselves via Face ID (on the iPhone X ) or Touch ID before the password can be sent and saved. A simple and secure way to quickly share a password with someone.

Also new in iOS 12

Sharing passwords with AirDrop is one of the many new features of iOS 12. Earlier we discussed all the important iOS 12 features and improvements that will come to your iPhone or iPad this fall. iOS 12 is largely about speed and stability, but it also introduces the Screen Time feature to provide more insight into how you use your iOS device, grouped notifications, ARKit 2, group video calls in FaceTime, new Animoji and Memoji.

iOS 12 will be available this fall for all devices that now run on iOS 11. These are the iPhone 5S or newer, iPad mini 2 or newer and sixth generation iPod touch. Also, check out the 36 new iOS 12 features.
