The entry into force of the GDPR last May has given a twist to the browsing experience through the internet. It's Worse. If before we had to accept cookies, close the subscription boxes and dodge advertisements and videos on some websites, we now have to add the necessary consent after the new regulation. Another obstacle.

Luckily, Apple has a function in Safari that allows us to skip all this automatically (in addition to others to protect us from annoying advertising ). It is the reader mode of Safari, with which this browser cleans the content of distractions. Let's see how to activate it in iOS and macOS for the websites that we want.
Activate Safari's automatic reader on your iPhone or iPad
Activating the Safari automatic reader on an iPhone or iPad does not require going through the browser settings. You just need to follow these simple steps:
- Open Safari and go to the website where you want to activate the reader.
- Enter an article and keep the button of the reader located above on the left, just next to the name of the web.
- You will see how a menu identical to the one on the screen. Choose the option you want: all the websites or only those of the website where you are.
And that's it. With this option, Safari will activate the reading view whenever it is available on the website where you are.
Activate the automatic Safari reader on your Mac
In Safari for Mac, you can also make use of this feature. In fact, there is a way to activate it that is identical to the iOS. Go to the article of a web, click, hold the button of the reading view and choose the corresponding option.
There is also a slightly more complicated way, but it allows you to choose where to automatically activate it from among the websites you visit frequently. Follow these steps:
- Access the Safari Preferences on Mac.
- Go to the Websites tab, Reader section.
- Here you will see a list of the frequent webs where you can activate this mode.
- Choose the ones you want and close the preferences.
From now on, the reader's view will automatically appear on the websites you have chosen. You can also activate it by default on any website in the same menu by activating the "When visiting other websites" option.
